Click the link below to take a basic French test to help determine your level for class placement. There is a separate fee associated with this placement test. Your written results will be sent to the language center coordinator when you select AF-Kansas City at the end of the evaluation.
You may also choose to self-evaluate or you can attend the Monday evening Conversation Meet-Ups, where the teacher will evaluate your level. Sign up is required, but there is no requirement to attend regularly.
AFKC is transitioning towards using the European DELF system of language level evaluation and categorization.
DELF is made for everyone learning the French language from 18 to 77 (or more) who wishes to validate officially and sustainably their learning of the French language. It is divided into 4 levels: A1, A2, B1 and B2.
Taking an AFKC class does not "officially validate" you level, however, we are using the system to guide our curriculum and division of class levels. We hope to start offering official DELF testing soon!
See the image to the right and below for a basic description of each level.
