Social Media and Website Coordinator 

Position: Social Media and Website Coordinator

Reports to: President & CEO

Liases with: AFKC Board of Directors, Language Center Staff, Committees, and Customers

Work can be performed Off-Site. YES

Description:

The Social Media and Website Coordinator reports to the President & CEO and is responsible for website update and content generation for all social media accounts.

The ideal candidate has a fluency in top social media platforms is already actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. and is well-connected with the broader social media world. Social media platforms currently in use at include (but are not limited to): Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

The position begins as soon as possible and requires at least a 4 month commitment, ideally for 1-2 days a week with some evening event coverage. Transit stipend will be provided.

Main Responsibilities:

    1. Manage posting/maintenance schedule for all social media and website
    2. Create and edit copy and content for all social media platforms
    3. Communicate directly with AFKC fans, often in a customer service oriented capacity
    4. Coordinate co-promotions with external partners and sponsors
    5. Work directly with outside graphic designer(s) and web masters when necessary
    6. Produce weekly and monthly analytics upon request for AFKC’s social activities on multiple platforms
    7. Ensure all social media activity is aligned with established brand standards and AFKC style guidelines

Qualifications

A.    Demonstrated experience with social media, social networks, and online communities, including blogging.

B.     Must be tech savvy and demonstrate a genuine passion for the world of social media and online communication

C.     Exceptional writing and editing skills.

D.    Native English speaker, some knowledge of French preferred

E.     Strong multitasking skills and ability to prioritize, plus ability to adapt to shifting priorities on the fly

F.      A detail-oriented nature, strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)

G.    Positive attitude and solid work ethic

H.    Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external partners

I.       Proficiency with basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Experience with adobe creative suite and photo editing software and apps preferred. 

J.       Passion for French language and culture, and/or the nonprofit world a plus

Education and Experience:

      • Undergraduate studies in Marketing, Communications, or related field

Key Competencies:

Hours and Compensation:

      • Work from home. 
      • The candidate must have the right to work in the U.S.
      • Part-time, hourly position. Additional hours during events. Position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
      • Salary is $10-$15 per hour and commensurate with experience.

Cultural Programs & Business Administration Internship

Come help promote French language and culture in the heart of the Greater Kansas City.

 Job Title: AFKC Part-Time Intern

Internship Duration:  Minimum 2 Hours Per Week; Maximum 40 Hours Per Week

Work can be performed Off-Site. YES

 The mission of the Alliance Française of Kansas City is to promote the French language and French-speaking cultures in our community through educational programs, cultural events and media resources.

 Short Term Goals:

    • Help promote French culture and language.
    • Handle administrative tasks related to promoting francophone culture and education programs including workshops and classes being offered at the Language Center.
    • Research cultural content to help develop interesting new member and public programs.
    • Assist with external communications, including member letters, annual report, newsletter preparation and writing copy.

      Long Term Goals:

        • Develop a business plan for the Alliance Française de Kansas City that examines pricing, marketing and strategy.
        • Identify French businesses in the KS/MO area and establish a French Business roundtable.

      Requirements:

        • Fluency in French and English are recommended, but not required.
        • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Application.
        • Strong organizational skills, especially with administrative functions and accuracy.
        • Knowledge of Francophone and American culture.
        • Ability to respect deadlines.
        • Flexibility, open-mindedness, maturity and strong professional attitude.
