Erjana Kurti

Albania, a Balkan country in southern Europe, is where I was born. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in “French Civilization, Art and Literature.”  After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I pursued my first master’s in “Technical-Literature translation and Interpretation.” During college, I lived between France and Albania for many years, and I truly enjoyed being an interpreter for over 2 years for the asylum seekers in Nice, France.

I pursued a second master’s in “Art, Literature and Didactic of Languages” at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University–Paris, “Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3”. 

I first started my teaching career in 2018 at a very prestigious, rigorous, private French-Albanian school called “Ernest Koliqi.”  I currently work at “Académie Lafayette,” a unique K-12 school. It is the first independent French Charter Public School in Missouri. At Académie Lafayette I am the “Teacher Representative” for the “Conseil d’École” since 2020. I have also been a mentor for the new teachers joining Lafayette. At Lafayette, I am humbled to work with people from all around the world, over 20 different countries on the continents of Africa, Europe, and the US. 

Since 2018, I’ve taught French for the French Alliance of Kansas City. I am also a board member at the French Alliance of Kansas City. The Alliance Française is the world’s largest network of French language and cultural institutions.  I administer monthly events with a Meetup Francophile group in Kansas City in collaboration with the “Alliance Française de Kansas City” (about 1,600 people are part of this group). I am also an adjunct French professor at the University of Central Missouri.  

I love reading, traveling. I try to have a balanced life considering all aspects: relationships, work, fitness, health, and emotional well-being. I spend my free time between my hobbies and passions such as traveling, reading, sports (tennis, volleyball, basketball), outdoors, arts, music, dancing classes, and yoga.
