experienced, professional, native teachers, or non-native teachers who are
certified to speak at native proficiency.
Founded in Paris in 1883, the Alliance Française now exists in 138 countries
around the world, with 141 chapters in the United States. The Alliance Française
de Kansas City, Inc., is a privately funded, non-profit organization existing
since 1963, with the goal of promoting French language and culture.

French classes are forming now!
Our Winter Term will begin the week which begins Monday, February 18, 2008, and will end
approximately the week of April 28, 2008, depending on whether make-up sessions
are necessary due to the weather or teacher schedules. All classes are subject to sufficient
enrollment. During the winter term, we will offer four 10-week language
courses (one class per week for 10 weeks) at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Click

This small class, ranging in size
from 6 to 12 students, will offer maximum opportunities to speak and participate
- it will be lively, interactive and fun.
Grammar concepts will be presented
in the context of real life communication and culture, focusing on
conversational skills and basic reading, writing and listening. A variety of
media will be selected by the teacher to help develop these essential
proficiencies.
French in the Fast Lane 1 will meet on Monday evenings, beginning February
18, 2008, for 1 1/2 hours
each evening (7:00 - 8:30 p.m.), for a period of 10 weeks, at Academie Lafayette.

The teacher for this class is Andre Sockmack, a native of Cameroon, West Africa,
who currently teaches 5th Grade at Academie Lafayette.
This course of 10 classes is intended for those
who have studied French previously, perhaps in high school or college, and want
a refresher before moving to more advanced studies.
Intensive practice of vocabulary and structures necessary to conversational
fluency.
French 2 will meet on Thursday
evenings, beginning February 21, 2008, for 1 1/2 hours each evening (from 6:30 -
8:00 p.m.), for a period of 10 weeks, at Academie
Lafayette.
The teacher for this class is Andre Sockmack, a native of Cameroon, West Africa,
who currently teaches 5th Grade at Academie Lafayette.
Intermediate French is for those who are able to carry on a simple
conversation in the present tense on subjects such as name, age, dwelling place,
weather, restaurant situations, and the like. This class will meet on Thursday
evenings, beginning on February 21, 2008, from 8:00 - 9:30 p.m., at Academie
Lafayette.
