A Wonderful Afternoon with Jamie Beck

A Wonderful Afternoon with Jamie Beck

Date Published: Aug 8

A wonderful afternoon at the Alliance Française de Kansas City!

We were delighted to welcome Jamie Beck, New York Times bestselling author and award-winning photographer, for a special conversation about her books An American in Provence and The Flowers of Provence. The event brought together a wonderful audience of Francophiles, readers, and lovers of Provence.

With the in-person event at full capacity, the room was filled with enthusiastic attendees, and we were also pleased to welcome participants joining us online via Zoom.

Moderated by Shieva Ghassemi, the conversation offered a fascinating look into Jamie's artistic journey—from her career as a commercial photographer in New York to her life and work in Provence. Jamie shared the inspiration behind her photography, the story of her move to France, and how Provence transformed both her artistic vision and her life.

The discussion continued with a lively Q&A, with questions from both the audience in the room and those joining online. Participants had the opportunity to talk about photography, creativity, French life, and the many ways Provence can inspire an artist.

It was a beautiful afternoon filled with images, stories, and thoughtful conversation—and a wonderful reminder of what we love about bringing people together around French culture.

A special thank you to Jamie Beck for joining us and sharing her work and her story, and to everyone who attended, both in person and online, for making this such a memorable event.
