Immersion Trip
to Aix-en-Provence (France)

This program is open to all learners with French level A2 to C2. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for complete beginners (A1). Arrangement can be found for a Partner joining.

For traveler

• French language classes at the Alliance Française de Aix-Marseille Provence (AFAMP)
  
• Selected cultural activities (walking tours, excursions, tastings, etc.)
  
• Accommodation (homestay or Residence option arranged by AFAMP)
  
• Daily breakfast and dinner (homestay participants only)
  
• Local transportation pass in Aix-en-Provence (20 travels by bus)
  
• Support from the AFKC accompanying person during the whole stay

For the partner

• Round-trip airfare to Aix-en-Provence / Marseille

• Homestay (arranged by AFAMP): 9 nights with a host family, including breakfast and dinner.
  
• Hotel Adagio: arranged by the Alliance Française Aix-Marseille Provence.

The trip will be led by AFKC’s Academic director, Shieva Ghassemi.
She will:

• Be your primary contact in Aix-en-Provence
• Lead the first walking tour of the city
  
• Hold morning office hours during class days
  
• Accompany the group for all scheduled cultural activities
  
• Assist in case of minor health issues and help direct participants to emergency care if needed
• Be open to explore other Tourist visits with you (for free)
  

Plenty! While mornings are reserved for classes and some afternoons for cultural activities, the schedule includes rest days and free time so participants can explore Aix and its surroundings at their own pace.

Registration opens Now until March 15th 2027. This is first come, first served. There are 18 places available (partners included). Maximum 5 partners for the entire group.

Yes, all participants must provide proof of travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and personal belongings. AFKC will provide a list.

BY TRAIN 🚆

The Aix-en-Provence TGV station is approximately 15 minutes from the city center. High-speed TGV trains connect Aix with major French and European cities, including Paris, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Lyon, Marseille, and Brussels. From Paris, the journey takes approximately 3 hours.

A regular shuttle bus connects the Aix-en-Provence TGV station with the city center, with departures approximately every 30 minutes.

BY PLANE ✈️

The closest international airport is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), located approximately 25 minutes from Aix-en-Provence.

A direct shuttle, line A2, connects Marseille Provence Airport with Aix-en-Provence city center and also stops at the Aix-en-Provence TGV station. The shuttle operates daily, with departures approximately every 30 minutes.

The totality is due June 15th. 

After your registration, if you decide to cancel, please note the refund policy bellow. 
The request to cancellation must be addressed to the email : iguglielmi@afkc.org or info@afkc.org

If you cancel your participation between March 15th and March 30th 2026	Refund of 100% of your first payment minus a $100 penalty fee
If you cancel your participation between March 30th and June 15th, 2027	AFKC will refund 50% of your first payment
After June 15th, 2027	No refund for any reason
In Aix-en-Provence	No refund, nor partial refund, nor credit will be given for any portions of the program that are not attended by the participant which includes tuition, cultural activities as well as meal.

• You must have a valid U.S. passport. 
• The duration of your stay in France must be for less than 90 days within any six-month period. 
• While not a visa, starting in 2026, U.S. travelers will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization before their trip. We will keep participants informed as the requirement comes into effect. Please make sure to apply only through the official ETIAS website, not through third-party services.

Please note that the electrical current in Europe is different from that in the United States. You will need an adapter for French power outlets and should check that your devices are compatible with a 220V voltage and 60 hz.

Most laptops and smartphones are compatible with 220V, but it is always best to check your device before traveling.

You can but think that it can be heavy in your bag. It is not mandatory. You can take your iPad if you prefer.
